Terriers are in New York City for their biennial Red Hot Hockey match-up with #2 Cornell. Puck drop at Madison Square Garden is at 8:00 p.m. for the contest that will be live-streamed on Stadium.
BU won the inaugural RHH game in 2007, 6-3, and was undefeated through the first five games, winning three times and tying the Big Red twice. Cornell edged the Terriers, 4-3, in the 2017 meeting to take possession of the Kelley-Harkness Cup, which honors legendary coaches Jack Kelley (BU) and Ned Harkness (Cornell). It was first introduced six years ago.
The teams last met in the 2018 NCAA Regionals in Worcester with BU winning, 3-1.
The Big Red, who are undefeated in eight games this year, are led by junior Morgan Barron with 12 points and fellow juniors Alex Green and Brendan Locke, each with nine points. Freshman defenseman Sam Malinski also has nine points. Junior goalie Matthew Galadja ranks third nationally with a 1.50 GAA and 10th in save percentage (.935).
Junior David Farrance leads BU with 10 goals (tops for D1 defensemen) and points with 19. He is also 14th nationally with 1.36 ppg. Seniors Patrick Harper (16 points) and Patrick Curry (15) form a strong first line with freshman Trevor Zegras (13). Graduate transfer goalie Sam Tucker, who made four starts against Cornell while at Yale, has a 2.69 GAA and a .910 save percentage.
