A trio of Terriers who were instrumental in the weekend sweep of Merrimack have been named to Hockey East’s Weekly Top Performers list. Dante Fabbro scored a hat trick, including the game-winning goal, in Friday’s 4-3 win at Merrimack. It was the first hat trick by a BU defenseman in a road game since Dick Lambyturned the trick in 1978. Bobo Carpenter had a three-point game (2G, 1A) in Saturday’s win and Shane Bowers had a goal and two assists in the weekend series. Bowers leads all Hockey East freshmen in goals with10.

NHL Central Scouting has announced its mid-term rankings for the 2018 Entry Draft. Current freshman Brady Tkachuk is ranked #3 among North American skaters. Four 2018 recruits from the NTDP U18s made the report: Left wing Joel Farabee is #11, forward Tyler Weiss (photo) is #71 and center Jack DeBoer is #197. Center Jake Wise, who missed the first half of the season with an upper-body injury, is rated LV for limited viewing. Final rankings will be issued in April.

2020 recruit Braden Doyle scored a goal in Lawrence Academy’s 3-2 loss to Milton Academy. He was assisted by Tyler Young, son of former BU skater and assistant coach Scott Young.
Looking back
Two former BU All-American defensemen find themselves on the injured list today. Charlie McAvoy will be out for at least two weeks after undergoing an ablation procedure to correct a non-serious abnormal heart rhythm. McAvoy, who has 25 points (5G, 20A) in 45 games, reported experiencing palpitations during a game on Nov. 26.
Kevin Shattenkirk was diagnosed late last week with a torn meniscus in his left knee and the surgical repair was done today. He had signed a four year, $26.6 million contract with his hometown New York Rangers and has 23 points in 46 games. He expressed hope that he’ll be back before the end of the regular.

Women’s Team
Terriers overcame a 2-0 deficit and earned a 2-2 overtime tie with UConn in Storrs on Sunday. Freshman Jesse Compher cut the lead in half late in the second period and sophomore Deziray De Sousa produced the equalizer early in the third. Freshman Corrine Schroeder had 15 saves for BU.
Former BU standout Marie-Philip Poulin will captain Canada’s women’s Olympic team in its quest for a third consecutive gold medal. She scored the game-winner in each of the last two gold-medal games. Another BU scoring star, Jenn Wakefield, also is on Canada’s roster.
